The atmosphere of Austrian food feast right in your kitchen.

The European continent has quite many reasons to boast of its local food that differs radically from one country to another. However, those countries’ traditional desserts have conquered the entire world and since then never lost in their popularity. One of the best examples is famous viennese waffles that people across the world try to make at home with their own waffle maker.

This recipe will give you the most authentic experience with the popular dessert which also won’t take more than 30 minutes to be prepared.

Ingredients: 3 eggs, 100 g of sugar, 5 g of vanilla sugar, 150 g of butter, 200 ml of milk, 350 g of flour, 10 g of baking powder, a pinch of salt.

In a deep bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and a pinch of salt with a whisk or electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Melt the butter in the microwave or over a double boiler, then let it cool. Pour it into the batter and continue mixing.

Add the milk to the mixture and continue beating.

While continuing to stir the batter, sift in the flour along with the baking powder. This will improve the dough's texture and help eliminate lumps.

Continue mixing all the ingredients. The consistency of the dough for Viennese waffles is similar to thick sour cream or a light cream: it’s easy to scoop out with a spoon or ladle.

Grease the panels of the waffle maker with butter. Turn on the electric waffle maker and let it heat up thoroughly.

Pour a small amount of batter into the waffle maker, close the lid, and bake for 5–7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Carefully remove the finished waffles, place them on a plate, and serve with your favorite toppings: berries, honey, jam, whipped cream, or ice cream.
