Not every love story lasts forever.

If House of the Dragon does have a center pairing, it's definitely Daemon and Rhaenyra, whose struggle from ambiguous affection to actual marriage we have witnessed throughout the first season of the Game of Thrones prequel.

However, it might be too early for Daemyra shippers to rejoice, as concerns are already arising that season 2 will seriously test Daemon and Rhaenyra's relationship.

The first red flag was Daemon choking his wife in episode 10 of the first season, when Rhaenyra was reluctant to go full warmonger mode and wanted to consider Alicent's peace terms. It caused outrage among Daemyra fans, who instantly accused the showrunners of trying to deliberately undermine their "loving relationship".

Now that season 2 is set to start filming in early 2023, Daemyra shippers are concerned that their marriage will become increasingly more toxic.

"If they destroy Daemon and Rheainira's loving relationship, it will be very sad. Then the meaning of their drama, love and 16 years of suffering is lost. And what about "We were always destined to burn together"?" Twitter user LPidgirna wondered.

Another fan argued that Daemon and Rhaenyra love story was not supposed to last until the end, mainly due to Rhaenyra's "paranoia" and "Mysaria's scheming." Others go on to say that Daemon and Rhaenyra have always been toxic, so it's only natural for their marriage to eventually plunge into misunderstanding and abuse.

"Their relationship is recognized as toxic but they both love each other. It's not a revolutionary concept that these relationships exist they just tend to end rather tragically. [...] It's political but it's too flawed to be strictly loving," Twitter fan roseari8 noted.

No matter how things will go for Daemon and Rhaenyra, House of the Dragon season 2 is highly unlikely to be sunshine and rainbows. On the contrary, it might rather be even more of an emotional rollercoaster than the first season, as the Dance of the Dragons is set to enter its bloodiest and most dramatic stage.
