What was supposed to be a brief cameo turned into a disaster for the actress, who was initially eager to star in her favorite sitcom.

Summary:

  • Throughout her acting career, Dakota Johnson has appeared in many projects apart from the Fifty Shades trilogy
  • One of her more obscure roles was in the final episode of the American version of The Office TV series
  • Unfortunately, the experience proved to be anything but pleasant for the actress, who was initially thrilled to star in the sitcom

The role of Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades trilogy, based on a series of erotic novels by E. L. James, is arguably the biggest of Dakota Johnson's career to date.

Despite a pretty cold reception from critics, which to be fair was inevitable given the exact same situation that happened with the source material, the films were massively successful and easily justified their relatively modest budgets.

However, Johnson has also starred in a number of acclaimed projects, such as The Social Network (2010), 21 Jump Street (2012), and Suspiria (2018), proving that while her breakout role was rather controversial, she does have acting chops.

The Actress Briefly Appeared On The Office

One of the actress' often overlooked roles, as it was a very brief appearance, came in 2013 when she starred in the final episode of the iconic American version of TV series The Office.

But it seems that even though this cameo was quite short, it was a lot more exhausting than one might have expected, which Johnson revealed during her recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Considering that she is a huge fan of the legendary sitcom, when Johnson was offered a role in the show's final episode, it was a no-brainer for the actress, as she assumed her scenes would be shot in about half a day.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to be "the worst time of her life," because even though she only had two speaking scenes and several more where she was only in the background, Johnson had to spend two weeks on set.

Nobody Shared Johnson's Optimistic Attitude

Furthermore, the atmosphere was quite somber and depressing, for obvious reasons, as after spending almost a decade together throughout the show's nine-season run, it was now time to let go, and the entire cast was feeling down.

This was in stark contrast to Johnson's upbeat attitude, as she was excited to finally be a part of her favorite show, but no one shared that excitement and wasn't in the mood to talk to her.

Soon, the actress will star in the upcoming new installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Madame Web, where she will portray the titular heroine.

The film is scheduled for release on February 14, 2024.
