Daredevil: Born Again season 3 hits Disney+ in March 2027; Marvel is spending the finale on a full Defenders reunion
The first Marvel Studios live-action show to reach a third season is ending with it — and the farewell guests are everyone Netflix cancelled by 2019.
Marvel made it official at New York Comic Con on October 8: Daredevil: Born Again season 3 arrives on Disney+ in March 2027, runs eight episodes, and is the end of the series. The sweetener announced on the same stage is the one fans have requested since 2017: Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Danny Rand, together, for the first full Defenders reunion since the Netflix miniseries.
Three of the four stood on the NYCC stage — Colter couldn't attend but is confirmed for the season — and Cox summarized the set experience in one line.
"It was like 2016 all over again."

He also joked that fans should warm up the "Save Daredevil" campaign again, which is funnier if you remember that campaign is literally how this show exists.
Why it's ending
The decision has a paper trail. Per Cosmic Book News' tally, Born Again went 0-for-17 on Nielsen's weekly Top 10 originals chart across its first two seasons — not one episode week cracked the list, including the season 2 finale. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, meanwhile, quietly parted ways with Marvel after season 3 wrapped filming in July 2026.

Season 2, which ran March 24 to May 5, left the board set for a big finish: Matt in prison for his crimes as Daredevil, Wilson Fisk in exile, and Luke Cage making his MCU debut in the finale — complete with the reveal that he and Jessica have a daughter, Danielle.

What the final season is working with
- The premiere pattern: March 2027 makes three consecutive March launches, which is as close to an appointment as streaming Marvel gets.
- The cliffhanger: a season that starts with its hero incarcerated and its villain dethroned, needing four heroes to resolve it.
- The legacy stakes: this cast's shows were cancelled by Netflix between 2018 and 2019; the characters outlived the platform decision, the revival, and now the revival's cancellation too.
- The company context: the same NYCC panel announced Zodiac, a new live-action Marvel series — the slate moves on even as this corner closes.
Netflix cancelled the Defenders citing the numbers. Eight years later, Marvel's answer to its own bad numbers is the Defenders.
Whether that's a victory lap or a Hail Mary depends entirely on March 2027. Either way, Matt Murdock gets what the Netflix era never gave him: an ending somebody planned.
