Clean and low-key murders are not exactly in his fashion.

It's safe to say that fans were over the moon to learn of Jon Bernthal's comeback as the Punisher in a new series, Daredevil: Born Again, set to debut sometime in 2024.

The first season of the series promises to be a dynamic 18-episode story of Matt Murdock trying to get to the Kingpin, who is back in Hell's Kitchen seeking revenge.

There has been a lot of talk about the cast of the series, as the Daredevil series was already produced in 2015 and made the audience quite attached to the characters and the actors who played them.

The audience was lucky to see Charlie Cox return to the main role of Matt Murdock and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle.

However, some characters were recast, and some, like Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, were not expected to return at all.

Getting your favorite actor back, however, was only half the battle, as fans would later realize.

Previously, the Daredevil series was produced by Netflix and only aired on the streaming service, which allowed the writers and directors to be a bit more graphic with what they showed.

Now that the show is under the full control of Marvel Studios, they're more likely to get a rating suitable for a wider audience than TV-MA. And that new rating will come with restrictions that are not very compatible with the way The Punisher works.

Fans can expect less gore, blood, and general on-screen violence, which makes them wonder if it will take some eyes off of Punisher.

Of course, there are some deep dramatic layers to him, but many viewers have fallen in love with the loose cannon that he is and don't want to see him slow down.

Fortunately for audiences, there is no shortage of movies that have had to deal with the same limitations but have been able to salvage their characters' violent means.

"Remember how threatening Heath Ledger's Joker was? He killed lots of people in brutal ways but it never explicitly showed it. He burned a man alive, fed a man to his dogs, and shot a cop point-blank in the face with a shotgun. That movie was PG-13," Redditor DingletonCringlebury pointed out, reminding Punisher fans of another quite iconic character with a very violent nature.

Whether Jon Bernthal's Punisher is to uphold the same plank as Heath Ledger's Joker did, we're yet to see.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again news and an official release date.
