Demi Moore Clears Oscar Scandal Rumours, Says She ‘Didn’t Feel Gutted’

Fans have been raging over Moore’s Oscar loss to Mikey Madison ever since the ceremony took place in March. But the actress was just fine with an unlucky outcome — here’s why.
This year’s Oscars ceremony might be long gone, but some are still not over Mikey Madison ’s win over Demi Moore in the Best Actress category.
The latter was long considered the most definite frontrunner for the award, though Anora had more luck, adding yet another statuette to its impressive collection of five wins in total.
Even though there was no visible sign of Demi Moore getting frustrated, the ceremony’s results still caused some speculation over the actress holding a grudge against the Academy or even Mikey Madison too; more than a month later, she just shut it all down.
Demi Moore Says She Felt Like Mikey Madison Was About to Win
Several weeks after the scandalous ceremony, the actress opened up about her losing to a much younger actress, which many fans called a real-life Substance storyline.
Her own feelings, however, turned out to be much different from what others expected.
“I leaned over and whispered to my manager, ‘I think it’s going to Mikey’. I don’t know why I knew, but I did. I was so centered and calm. I didn’t feel gutted. I didn’t feel any of those kinds of things. I just trusted, and am in trust of, whatever is going to unfold”, Moore said in an interview with Time magazine after the outlet named her one of the most influential people of the year.
Fans Are Still Divided Over Demi Moore’s Oscar Loss
The talks about who actually deserved the award more didn’t die down for long after the Academy gave the statuettes out, making Moore and Madison’s fans clash against each other even more fiercely.
“I really think Demi poured her soul in this, and in my humble opinion she deserved the oscar. She was scrubbed from the Oscars”, Redditor Shedding wrote in an Oscars-related thread, stirring up a heated discussion.
“As a horror fan and an Anora fan, this doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m guessing there are hundreds if not thousands in the academy who refuse to watch anything horror. Also, Anora was great. I don’t think Demi’s performance was better than Mickey’s”, another user pointed out while some others suggested Moore “earned a nomination. Mikey deserved the win”.
Redditor AnatomicalLog, however, had a more radical response, saying that Moore did in fact deserve to win “and so did other actresses in the category, including Mikey. I loved The Substance, but seriously, get over it.”
