Denis Villeneuve’s Hit Movie With 94% RT Score Lands on Hulu in April

The movie starring Amy Adams was one of the director’s biggest box office hits before Dune came along.
Denis Villeneuve is now one of the most acclaimed sci-fi masters after helming the Timothée Chalamet-led epic drama Dune and its sequel; however, the director has been exploring the genre and its possibilities way earlier than his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book series was released.
Years before he started working on Dune, Villeneuve had another massive sci-fi hit that earned him numerous accolades, including several nods from the Academy.
Starring Amy Adams in the leading role, the film has since remained one of Villeneuve’s finest works which, luckily for many of the director’s fans, will soon arrive on Hulu.
Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival Is Set for an Arrival on Hulu in April
The streamer is bringing in some nostalgia ahead of the production start for the director’s Dune 3 as his 2016 hit sci-fi drama Arrival will join Hulu’s vast collection of movies on April 1.
Based on Ted Chiang’s Story of Your Life, Arrival stars Amy Adams as linguistics professor Louise Banks coping with a personal tragedy right ahead of the arrival of several gigantic spaceships landing in 12 locations across the world.
As the tension rises amidst the possibility of a global war, Louise reunites with her team, racing against time in an attempt to communicate with the aliens and find out the real reasons for the invasion.
Diving deeper into the big mystery, Louise embarks on another risky mission that could not only take her life, but also wipe the entire mankind off the face of Earth.
Arrival Is Still Denis Villeneuve’s Highest-Rated Movie
Despite all the global success both Dune movies had, neither of them hasn’t beaten Arrival in Villeneuve’s rating of the most acclaimed films.
The movie is currently holding 94% and 82% from critics and audiences respectively on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes it the best-rated work among the director’s existing movies; to compare, Dune and its 2024 sequel have 83% and 92% of positive reviews respectively, while Arrival is also followed by Sicario, the Taylor Sheridan-written action thriller with 92% of critical score.
With more than $200 million grossed in the box office across the world, Arrival is still regarded as one of the best films released in 2016 and a deserving Oscar winner after the movie took home one out of 8 possible awards for Best Sound Editing.
