With casual ease, the two-time Oscar winner admitted: "I don’t watch movies… I’m tired of movies." Too Many Films, Too Little Interest

Pressed by Lee on how many films he has made, Washington replied: "Too many. I think 50!" Despite nine Oscar nominations and countless iconic roles, he now shows little interest in the very medium that made him a legend. Refreshing candour, perhaps — or just exhaustion after a lifetime in front of the camera?

Collaboration Without Enthusiasm

Ironically, Highest 2 Lowest is Washington’s fifth collaboration with Lee, after classics like Malcolm X and Inside Man. Yet during the discussion, he looked detached, even scrolling his phone as others spoke.

Awards and acclaim clearly leave him unmoved these days. Not many actors of his stature would dare admit as much — though some might secretly feel the same.
