'Dexter Resurrection': Plot, Release Date, Cast & Everything We Know

Dexter: Resurrection is already on its way, and here's everything you need to know about the upcoming sequel to the cult show.
Another Dexter spinoff titled Resurrection is coming out very soon. The new project is causing a huge stir among fans – Michael C. Hall is returning, the setting is New York, and the cast is full of A-list actors.
Here is everything we know about one of the most highly anticipated series of this summer.
What Will 'Dexter: Resurrection' Be About?
The new season is both a continuation of the original show and a brand new chapter. After the original show's eighth season, Dexter disappeared, faking his death. Years later, he appears under a different name in the miniseries Dexter: New Blood.
He is found by Harrison, the son he abandoned as a child. In the finale of New Blood, Harrison learns his father's true identity and shoots him. Dexter dies – or so it seems.
His resurrection takes place a few weeks later. Dexter wakes up in the hospital – he is alive but officially dead, and Harrison has disappeared. Dexter goes to New York to find his son.
There, he encounters new enemies, including influential billionaire Leon Prater and his head of security. Meanwhile, Harrison's story continues as he tries to build a new life.
'Dexter: Resurrection' Release Schedule & Trailer
The series is scheduled to premiere on July 11, 2025. On that date, the first two episodes will be released on Paramount+.
Then, as part of the Showtime lineup, one episode per week will be released on Sundays. A total of ten episodes have been announced for the season. Paramount+ recently released a new trailer for Dexter: Resurrection.
Unlike Dexter: New Blood, it will not be a miniseries. According to showrunner Clyde Phillips, Resurrection is the beginning of a new chapter. If all goes according to plan, Dexter will be with us for a long time.
'Dexter: Resurrection' Cast & Guest Stars
The cast of Dexter: Resurrection is impressive. Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter and is heavily involved in the series as a producer. Jack Alcott will also reprise his role as Harrison. James Remar will also return as Harry Morgan, Dexter's adoptive father.
New characters include Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, a billionaire interested in serial killers, and Uma Thurman as Charley, the head of security. Additionally, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian, Neil Patrick Harris, and Eric Stonestreet will guest star as serial killers.
Why Is 'Dexter: Resurrection' Worth Waiting For?
Dexter: Resurrection is not just a sequel – it's an attempt to restore order to the chaos that ensued after the two finales. While the eighth season ended with Dexter disappearing into the woods and New Blood offering a darker but controversial ending, the creators are now rebooting the story to get it right.
Clyde Phillips, the showrunner of the first four seasons of the original show, is again heading the project. It was him who turned the story of a serial killer into one of the most popular series of the 2000s.
