It seems that the director has further plans for Idris Elba's charismatic professional assassin.

2021 'The Suicide Squad' was exactly what the DCEU needed, a solid auteur project with a healthy dose of irony and great character development. And Idris Elba as Bloodsport proved to be a fan favorite, as his deadpan delivery instantly made him one of the most memorable characters to appear in recent DC films. So, fans were quick to suggest Gunn develop a solo project for the anti-hero, just as Warner Bros. had already done for Peacemaker ( John Cena).

And it seems that the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' creator is completely on board with this suggestion, explicitly hinting on Twitter at the possibility of Bloodsport's return.

When a fan demanded specific answers, Gunn replied with a cryptic "it would be nice, wouldn't it?" referring to the prospect of seeing Bloodsport again. Fans on Reddit are already discussing the possibilities of Elba's return to his hit role, with projects ranging from a solo HBO Max series to 'Suicide Squad' sequels.

Others offer much more interesting ideas, such as pitting Bloodsport against Henry Cavill 's Superman.

Given the recent news of Gunn's departure from MCU 's space opera, the possibility that the director will move to the DCEU full-time is quite likely. Perhaps Gunn will become something like Kevin Feige for Warner Bors. developing series and movies while expanding his personal brand as a director and producer.
