Did 'Ready or Not' Need a Sequel? As 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' Proves, the Answer Is No
The sequel failed to offer anything approaching the brilliant simplicity of the original concept.
In 2019, Ready or Not became a hit, captivating viewers with its perfect timing and Samara Weaving's infectious charisma.
Seven years later, Radio Silence returned to the franchise with a sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. Every fan inevitably asks: did this movie really need a sequel? The answer is obvious: no.
What Is 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' About?

Grace is trying to recover from the bloody chaos in the mansion and figure out a story that the investigator will believe. However, her calm recovery is interrupted by two visitors.
The first is her younger sister, Faith, whom Grace hasn't spoken to in years. The second visitor is a neat gentleman with an impressive tome. He explains that a second round of the game is inevitable because a powerful organization that rules planetary affairs demands a new battle.
Grace could now become the head of the organization – as usual, all that remains is to survive. Her main opponents are brother and sister Ursula and Titus.
The Satire in 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' Is off the Mark Most of the Time
The sequel shifts from striking, action-packed scenes to straightforward slogans with the message Eat the Rich. The satirical jabs at wealthy families remain relevant and have acquired a sinister tone against the backdrop of confirmed conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein's island.
However, the irony is so uninventive and straightforward that the caricatured villains are only suitable for a fast-paced B-movie horror movie – which is precisely what this flick is.
Clearly explaining how the all-powerful council works is difficult, yet the screenwriters don't seem to try. Instead, viewers are presented with a cast of stereotypical antagonists whose national idiosyncrasies are portrayed as clumsily as in bad comedies from the early 2000s.
David Cronenberg makes a cameo appearance, but unfortunately, he gives no hint of a higher degree of madness – don't expect any bodily metamorphoses or machine uprisings.
'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' Lacks the Sister-Driven Drama & Frantic Action of the Original Movie

The cruel attitudes of the elite highlight the relationship between the sisters, who start their survival race literally chained together. Grace and Faith learn to work as a team and forgive each other for the reckless choices they made in their youth.
Trouble, handcuffs, and risks naturally bring the heroines closer. On paper, this plot sounds promising, however, under constant threat, the sisterly conflicts are resolved too quickly, leaving no room for real drama.
Some will see meta-commentary in Samara Weaving's thrashing of MTV scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar. Ultimately, though, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come boils down to a showreel for the main actress, who no longer needs to prove her talent.
