Ditch the Fancy Tools: Make a Gourmet Poached Egg Sandwich With This Simple Kitchen Hack
You’ll make it even better than in the fanciest cafes out there.
Have you ever had a thought of making that viral avocado and egg toast at home, but eventually ditched the idea doubting it would turn out beautiful?
Well, we’ve all been there, but you have no reason to worry if you already have a simple kitchen ladle at home — using it, you’ll get the perfect poached egg to serve on the sandwich for breakfast.
Ingredients: 2 slices of toast, 1 avocado, 1–2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of sweet chili sauce, a few thin slices of ham, 2 eggs, Parmesan cheese to taste, butter or olive oil, salt, black pepper.
Toast the bread until it’s crispy. Mash the avocado with a fork, then add lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and sweet chili — the mixture should be creamy and have a vibrant flavor. Spread it on the toast and top with thin slices of ham.
For a quick poached egg, lightly grease a ladle with oil, gently crack an egg into it, and lower the ladle into a pot of hot water, making sure no water gets inside. Cook for a few minutes until the white sets but the yolk remains soft.
Place the finished poached egg on top of the sandwich and immediately sprinkle with Parmesan and freshly ground pepper.
