Chicago Fire is the longest-running and biggest series of the Chicago One franchise on NBC.
Some of its characters have been on the show for eleven seasons. So the actors who play them have had to work closely together.
This can't but have resulted in real life relationships, can it?
The father figure for the entire Firehouse 51, Christopher Herrmann portrayed by David Eigenberg seems to be poles apart from troubled but well-meaning Joe Cruz played by Joe Minoso.
In more than ten years on Chicago Fire, the two have had numerous mutual scenes. And their plot lines are closely knit in many respects.
So it is understandable if you find yourself wondering what the two actors think about each other in real life.
Rejoice in knowing that David Eigenberg and Joe Minoso are very close in their off-screen lives.
In an interview to Entertainment Weekly back in 2021, David Eigenberg said how glad he was to have had Minose as his scene partner in the stuck-in-the-elevator episode (season 9 episode 5).
The actor also acknowledged that he was "old friends" with Minoso. "We're all like family," he said. No wonder though since even back then they had been almost ten years on set together.
One couldn't but have developed a close friendship over such a long period of time, Eigenberg added.
Sure, it's clear that people who spend so much time together almost every day of their lives for decades become very close.
But there are things that bind David Eigenberg and Joe Minoso together apart from that. The two can relate to each other as they have common history and share some experiences, Eigenberg told EW.
This helps the actors understand each other and perform better on set.
What is more, Eigenberg couldn't but express his joy at the fact that some storylines were written especially for their two characters.
Those must have let the actors explore their characters' relationship on screen as well as brought them closer in their real lives.
Anyway, David Eigenberg and Joe Minoso are good friends. And their friendship has proven to be productive both for the actors and their characters.
