Dungeons & Dragons Adaptation With 91% RT Score Is Finally Available on Netflix

Released 2 years ago, the movie starring Chris Pine became the original game’s faithful adaptation and received universal acclaim.
Popular books and video games’ adaptations have recently been having hard times on modern TV and in cinema.
Starting from heavily criticised Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon that keeps ignoring George Martin ’s lore, HBO’s The Last of Us that fans of the original game repeatedly slammed for staying away from the main idea, and ending with a 2024 box office flop Borderlands that also turned out to be a major disappointment; adaptations are a tricky thing to handle even with the best technologies the industry offers, though some still succeed in pleasing the audiences.
One of those few flicks is a 2023 fantasy heist comedy based on one of Dungeons & Dragons’ games, and it’s just been quietly added to Netflix.
You Can Now Watch Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on Netflix
Despite becoming quite an unexpected arrival, the movie might be quick to take some spot in the streamer’s global top as it’s currently available for watching on Netflix.
Helmed by Spider-Man: Homecoming’s director Jonathan Goldstein, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a delightful comedy bringing to the screen the best out of the original role-playing game and also uniting big names like Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant.
The movie primarily follows Pine’s Edgin Darvis and Rodriguez’s Holga Kilgore teaming up and finding more superheroes for stealing an ancient lost relic, but things get even more complicated once they come across wrong people.
Some evil forces are also there to keep them away from treasure, so the team has to come up with a plan on how to avoid problems, which is already quite a good premise for a superhero comedy.
Despite Critical Acclaim, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Was a Major Box Office Flop
Unlike many other game adaptations, the movie received warm welcome from critics, but fell short in the box office due to some marketing issues and tough competition with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in theatres worldwide at the same time.
As a whole, the flick grossed around $209 million against its pretty much blockbuster-ish budget of $150 million, bombing in the box office despite high hopes.
However, Honor Among Thieves still has an honor of holding impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes, which are currently 91% and 92% from critics and viewers.
