The long-awaited premiere is just in a few days.

Fans of the MTV's Teen Wolf were excited to hear that a movie revival was in the works, but their excitement was short-lived when it became clear that one of the main characters, Stiles, played by Dylan O'Brien, would not be returning for the film.

Annoying Stiles' Plot Hole That Bothers Teen Wolf Fans To This Day

O'Brien himself spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at length about his decision to not reprise his role, and his candid thoughts have left fans with mixed reactions.

"I was really disappointed to hear that Dylan wasn't going to be in the movie," said one fan. "For me, Stiles was such a big part of the show, and I can't imagine it without him." Another fan echoed this sentiment, saying, "I don't think I'll even bother watching the movie without Stiles. He was the heart and soul of the show."

O'Brien explained in his interview that he initially tried to make it work, but ultimately decided to listen to his gut and chose not return for the movie.

"I was doing all of those things for other people and not myself," he said. "I was like, 'Oh, I actually don't feel like I want to open that door back up, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I should just listen to that instinct and go with it.' So, that's ultimately what I decided."

O'Brien spoke very openly about how he struggled with the decision, eventually coming to terms with not actually wanting to come back.

"It was already left in a really nice place, you know? So, I didn't want to touch it," he said, adding that he still has "a lot of heart and loyalty to the show."

Not all fans were upset about O'Brien's decision, ultimately choosing to respect it instead of regretting Stiles' absence.

"I think it's totally fine that he didn't want to come back," said one fan, reminding that fans should just be grateful that the long-awaited Teen Wolf movie actually exists in the first place. "It's his career and he should do what makes him happy."

However, it's not to say that the movie will just forget about Dylan O'Brien's character completely. After all, there's really no Teen Wolf without Stiles. Jeff Davis himself promised the fans that Stiles' absence will be addressed in the movie, and his presence will still be felt in one way or another.

Teen Wolf: The Movie is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on January 26th.
