Early Oscar Predictions Are In: 10 Films That Could Sweep the 2025 Awards
If you think it's too early to start predicting Oscar 2025 nominations, then you're no fun.
Sure, we just witnessed the 2024 Academy Awards ceremony, but some of the movies that were already released weren't eligible for this year and may as well compete in the next — and there are some worthy candidates that just graced the silver screens with their presence.
Some of the movies in this list, like Dune: Part II, can be brushed off due to a recency bias, but it still seems to be a very contender not only for Best Picture but Best Director and some of the technical nominations.
Though maybe Francis Ford Coppola would steal the Best Director title from Denis Villeneuve with his Megalopolis: the premise looks quite epic.
But the Oscars still can surprise us, so we're not discrediting the movies that weren't released yet but already seem promising judging by the people who make them.
And we're fairly certain that there will be one or two dark horses that will appear almost out of nowhere and sweep us off our feet. Still, making predictions so early is quite fun specifically because so much can change and so much can surprise us.
