“You’re going to be able to enjoy the structure of the how-done-it, but they’re going to mix that up, so don’t be thinking you know exactly what you’re going to get each time. They’re trying to make sure that there’s some freshness so that people don’t get too comfortable, and also, you know, this is Elsbeth, so there’s going to be some surprises,” she said.
What was the main reason to watch the show for some fans ended up being a turnoff for others. The repetitive formula that dictated the structure of each episode may have been fun to return to for fans of old-school detectives like Columbo, but it was hard to sit through for viewers used to more dynamic shows.
Elsbeth season 2 seems to take the viewers' concerns into account and mix things up to satisfy each group while staying true to the show's nature. If Preston's words prove to be true, Elsbeth could be in for an even more exciting chapter.
