When you're an actor involved in a major project, you can't really shade it... unless you're Robert Pattinson, who's tired of playing a glittery vampire.

Despite being an HBO classic at this point, Game of Thrones drew a lot of ire from fans after its eighth season and the way it ended. With Daenerys going into crazy queen mode and Jon Snow having to kill her after they hooked up, the fandom is still not over the way Game of Thrones basically "ruined" itself.

It turns out that fans are not alone in their complaints about the Game of Thrones finale. But while the fandom has the freedom to let it all out on Twitter or Reddit, the actors cannot be as outspoken. Still, they find a way to let fans know they're not okay with things without actually shading the project.

This is what Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, did. In fact, her reaction to how Game of Thrones ended quickly became a meme.

Back in 2019, when asked by Entertainment Tonight if she was happy with how things ended, Clarke raised her eyebrows in her own signature way and only responded with a seemingly forced "Best season ever!"

As the interviewer noted, Clarke did not say yes. And if you ask Game of Thrones fans, many of them would actually disagree with the sentiment that season 8 was the "best season ever". As for Clarke's reaction, fans believe she was trying to warn fans of what's to come, since the interview came out before the final episode aired.

"Emilia Clarke's words: "Haha! Best season EVUH!" Emilia Clarke's eyes and expression: "Run! Run! RUN! Far, far away where this show can't get to you!" She was really trying to warn us!" one fan said in the YouTube comments.

Game of Thrones ended after eight seasons in 2019, with its final chapter earning a 55 percent critics score and only a 30 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
