The family has found new ways to communicate with him amid his condition.

I watched the recent ABC special Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey, and I have to say, Emma Heming’s words were both heartbreaking and hopeful. She shared a deeply personal look at how Bruce, now 70, is dealing with frontotemporal dementia after retiring from acting.

According to her, he’s still "in really great health overall" and remains "very active," but his brain is "failing him."

"The language is going, and, you know, we've learned to adapt. And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different, a different way," she explained.

What struck me the most was how much their connection transcends words. Emma believes Bruce still recognizes her, sharing moments filled with light and affection:

"I feel he does, right? Like, he, I know he does. You know, when we are with him...he lights up, right? He's holding our hands. We're kissing him. We're hugging him. He is reciprocating. You know, he is into it. And so that's all I need… I just wanna feel that I have a connection with him. And I do."

Honestly, reading her words made me emotional. It’s a reminder that love and connection aren’t always about memory or words—they’re about presence, touch, and those small moments that mean everything.
