Many fans have begun to doubt that we will ever see a third season of Euphoria. However, despite the rumors, filming is moving forward, and the new chapter is closer than you thought.

It has been three years since the resounding success of the second season of Euphoria, and fans are still eagerly awaiting the continuation of Rue and her friends' story.

However, production of the third season has been shrouded in rumors, creative differences, and tragic events. Here is everything we know so far about the future of one of the most provocative projects in modern television.

When Will 'Euphoria' Season 3 Be Released?

According to HBO CEO Casey Bloys, the premiere is scheduled for Spring 2026, which confirms that rumors of the project's cancellation were greatly exaggerated.

Bloys also dismissed reports of fewer episodes, confirming that the upcoming season will have eight episodes, similar to previous seasons.

What Will 'Euphoria' Season 3 Be About?

Series creator Sam Levinson has reportedly planned a five-year time jump, a decision supported by many of the show's actors, including Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.

This would avoid the awkwardness that comes with the actors growing older. Early drafts called for Rue to become a private detective. Zendaya herself suggested that her character could become a surrogate mother.

Sam Levinson Has Been Accused of Plagiarism

Photographer and director Petra Collins publicly accused Sam Levinson of plagiarism, claiming that the visual style of Euphoria was stolen outright from her work.

She said that she had worked on the project for five months, developing its aesthetic, casting, and overall concept, but HBO fired her due to her young age.

A year later, she saw the finished series as a direct copy of her ideas. The subsequent failure of Levinson's next project, The Idol, further undermined the producers' confidence in his ability to manage major projects.

Zendaya and Sam Levinson's Conflict

The main reason for the delay of the third season was the creative differences between Zendaya and Sam Levinson. Their once-strong creative partnership had fractured. Sources reported that Zendaya was disappointed that Levinson shifted his full attention to The Idol, abandoning his work on Euphoria.

Furthermore, Zendaya objected to Levinson's wife, Ashley – who is known for her uncompromising defense of her husband – being the sole executive producer of the season.

Levinson's team, on the other hand, blames the delays on Zendaya's busy schedule.

Thus, the road for the third season of Euphoria has been rocky. Despite all the conflicts, accusations, and tragedies (the departure of Barbie Ferreira and the death of Angus Cloud), the project will move forward. Hopefully, the final result will be worth the long wait.
