Summary:

  • Euphoria is an HBO teen drama that follows the lives of an addicted high school student, Rue, and her group of friends.
  • Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie on the show, had one of the most disgusting episodes where her character suffered a severe case of vomiting.
  • The actress detailed the movie magic behind the scenes during her appearance on Hot Ones.

Knowing the hardships that many actors go through to prepare for the roles they play, no one can say that acting is an easy job. For most actors, however, the challenges don't end with preparation, as new ones arise on set almost every day.

From learning all the rewritten scripts in a short amount of time to filming in public places under the pressure of the public eye, there are many demanding tasks that come up during the filming of even the most chilly of shows. Although the actors on Euphoria don't have to perform many stunts, their days are rarely easy.

After all the gossip surrounding Sam Levinson's bombed 2023 production of The Idol, one can only imagine his style of work on Euphoria. As Sydney Sweeney confirms, the creator's demands can put the cast in the most uncomfortable and downright disgusting situations.

How Did Cassie Throw Up In Euphoria?

The unfortunate accident happened during Maddy's 18th birthday party while the group was hanging out in a hot tub and Maddy and Nate started arguing.

The stress of betraying her best friend behind her back becomes too much for Cassie, and she implodes all over the tub, causing everyone to jump out.

As hard and disturbing as the scene is to watch, it was even more disgusting to film. Especially for Sweeney, who had to have the entire tubing system attached to her to make it believable. The actress recalled the filming process while watching the YouTube show Hot Ones and eating chicken wings.

“They had to get a pump, and they had this pipe that they just taped and hid on my body, and then they CGI’d it out up my neck. <...> During that scene, they're filling my mouth with throw up, and then I and then I open my mouth and it just starts shooting out of my mouth,” Sweeney said.

While the method used by the team was not the most conventional, it definitely helped to create a very realistic portrayal of a very bad case of projectile vomiting, even if the audience could have done without it.

Sweeney, while proud of the way the scene turned out, agrees that it was the most disgusting thing she's ever done.
