Eva Longoria Poured $6M Into John Wick Before It Got Shut Down
With less than a week before filming was set to begin, the project hit a critical roadblock when an investor failed to deliver promised funds in time. In the film industry, this kind of last-minute financial crisis usually spells doom for a project.
Later, speaking to Business Insider, Chad Stahelski revealed:
“We were less than a week out and we lost almost $6 million on a gap financing.”
And this is where Eva Longoria comes into play. When she learned about the situation, she didn't hesitate. With less than 24 hours until the production would have been forced to shut down, Longoria stepped in with the crucial $6 million investment that saved the film. But the most amazing part about all of this is that she did it quietly. Stahelski only found out about her involvement after John Wick became a worldwide hit.
In the same interview, Stahelski stated that they never even met Longoria before, so they took her to lunch. He said:
"She was laughing, going, 'I didn't think it was going to work. We were reminiscing. She was like, 'Wow, that was the best money I've ever spent.' It paid back significantly for her."
It was truly a make-or-break moment for the film, and we couldn't be more happy that Longoria came to the rescue.
