The first reviews of the Netflix series The Witcher: Blood Origin have appeared online. Critics have been disappointed by the Witcher prequel – and that's putting it mildly.

You guys, we just found out that The Witcher: Blood Origin has a seriously low rating on Metacritic - like, only 54%! And it's even worse on Rotten Tomatoes with only 36%. Critics thinks it's way worse than Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power which, let's be real, got pretty meh reviews. According to them, this year is full of great fantasy - House of Dragons and The Rings of Power. The new show ultimately may only take last place. Yikes.

So, what exactly is so wrong with it?

According to critics, the creators of the prequel to The Witcher series have made a poor choice in selecting themes for the plot. "Blood Origins" is reportedly unconvincing both as a standalone story and as part of the franchise. The series is said to focus on some of the least interesting aspects of one of the most engaging parts of the Witcher's history. Many viewers and fans of the original books and games have expressed disappointment with the direction of the prequel earlier this year.

Critics are not impressed with the pace of the storytelling in the new series, saying that it's so rushed and scatterbrained that it's impossible to get to know the characters or delve deeper into the universe they inhabit.

"I swear, I blinked and half an episode had passed," one critic complained. "It's like they're trying to cram a whole novel into a single episode." Another added, "I don't even know what the heck is happening anymore. They're moving so fast, I'm getting dizzy just watching." Overall, it seems that the series has left early viewers and critics feeling frustrated and confused. But hey, at least it's not boring, right?

While some critics may not be thrilled by the villains and boring political plot lines of the Golden Empire, let's be real, who cares about that stuff anyway? The real highlight of this series is the ragtag group of misfits traveling across the Continent and causing chaos wherever they go.

These guys may be the biggest losers in the land, but they sure know how to put up a good fight.

The Witcher: Blood Origin arrives on Netflix December 25, 2022.
