In the eighth season of the cult series House M.D., viewers witnessed the staging of House's death. He was officially declared dead, although in reality he went on a trip with the dying Wilson.
Many familiar characters appeared at the farewell ceremony for the doctor, but Lisa Cuddy was not among them. This caused confusion among fans - after all, she played one of the key roles in the life of the main character.
Lisa Edelstein refused to participate in the finale
Cuddy's absence is explained simply: actress Lisa Edelstein, who played this role, left the project after the seventh season. She did not renew her contract, since her fees were reduced. In addition, the actress stated that she did not want to get stuck in one image and was striving for new professional challenges.
Cuddy's return was not planned
Although many fans hoped for the heroine to appear in the finale, the creators of the series did not revise the script. Cuddy's storyline ended when she broke up with House, which happened in episode 15 of season 7. After that, the character simply disappeared from the narrative.
However, from the script's point of view, Cuddy's refusal to attend House's funeral seems quite logical. Their relationship ended painfully, after which they no longer communicated. The heroine did not want to return to the past. For her, the chapter called "House" was already closed.
