Everything We Know About 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Biopic Starring Lily Collins: Plot, Cast & More
Although the project is still in the early stages of development, we know some details.
A biopic about Audrey Hepburn was bound to happen. Rumors about the project have been circulating for a long time, as have debates about who should play the Hollywood icon.
Finally, the project has gotten off the ground. Information is still scarce, but we at least know the name of the lead actress and some plot and production details.
When Will the Movie Be Released?
There is no exact release date yet. The project has been in development for almost ten years. In February of this year, Lily Collins lifted the veil of secrecy when she posted on social media that she would be playing Audrey Hepburn.
It's unclear when filming will begin or when the movie will be released. Since a director hasn't been appointed yet, a premiere is unlikely anytime soon.
What Will the Movie Be About?

The plot will be based on Sam Wasson's book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M., which recounts the production of Breakfast at Tiffany's. The romantic comedy proved to be a turning point in Hepburn's career.
The biopic's creators will likely immerse viewers in the hustle and bustle of the filming process. Truman Capote will likely appear on screen – the writer expressed dissatisfaction with the film, particularly with the actress chosen for the lead role.
Capote believed that Marilyn Monroe should have played Holly, but she turned the role down. According to one account, her acting teacher discouraged Monroe from taking the role. She found the character of Holly to be morally questionable, and at the time, Monroe was trying to escape that image.
Ultimately, the role went to Hepburn, who also had doubts. As an introvert, she was terrified of playing an extroverted character.
Creative differences within the film crew will likely be reflected in the script as well. John Frankenheimer was initially attached to the movie but was replaced by Blake Edwards. It is said that Hepburn's agent insisted on a more famous director.
The studio later interfered with the director's work because the Hays Code was still in effect in Hollywood, and Holly Golightly was considered a scandalous character.
The tension between Hepburn and her onscreen lover, George Peppard, only added to the problems. Peppard was dissatisfied with his character's portrayal and believed that Paul Varjak was the story's main character.
The biopic's creators are unlikely to overlook the actress's personal life. During filming, she was married to Mel Ferrer, who was known for being controlling. The couple divorced in 1968.
Shortly before filming began, Hepburn gave birth to a son, Sean, after suffering two miscarriages.
Who's Making the Movie & Who Stars in It?

Lily Collins, who has long been compared to Hepburn, will play the lead role. These similarities were highlighted in the series Emily in Paris, in which Collins's character often wore outfits reminiscent of Hepburn's iconic style.
No other cast members have been announced yet, and the director is also unknown. However, we do know who is writing the script: Alena Smith, known for her work on the series Dickinson, is writing it.
