Everything You Need to Know About 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Part 2' & What Happened in Part 1

The Demon Slayer franchise is reaching its epic conclusion. The final story arc is divided into three feature-length movies. The first movie was released in summer 2025 and instantly became a hit with fans worldwide.
Infinity Castle features dynamic battles, heart-wrenching drama, and Ufotable's impeccable animation.
Here's a brief recap of the first movie, a preview of the second, and an estimated release date.
What Was 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' About?
The trap that the demon hunters set for Muzan at the leader's residence only partially worked. The demon was seriously injured but survived. In an attempt to escape, he dragged the hunters into the Infinity Castle, his lair, where the Upper Moons were waiting for him.
The first movie in the trilogy opens with Tanjiro, the Hashiras, and the ordinary hunters falling into the castle. They will face Akaza, as well as two other Upper Moons: Douma and Kaigaku.
What Happened in the Finale of 'Infinity Castle'?
The first movie adapted chapters 140-157 of the manga. Two of the three battles ended in victory for the hunters, who defeated the third and sixth Upper Moons. However, Douma proved to be too much for Shinobu Kocho.
The ending provides viewers with powerful clues. We finally see the face of the first Upper Moon, Kokushibo – the most powerful demon after Muzan – as he delivers a furious monologue.
Meanwhile, Shinobu's young successor prepares for a battle with Douma, and Muzan himself heals his wounds and vows to destroy all hunters.
What Will 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Part 2' Be About?
The second movie will likely adapt chapters 158 to 183, which cover the remainder of the Infinity Castle arc. The main event will be the battle with the second Upper Rank, Douma. This fight will be fought by Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu's successor, and Inosuke.
Viewers will also encounter the fourth Upper Rank, Nakime, in a battle featuring Love Hashira, Mitsuri, and Snake Hashira, Obanai.
However, the most epic confrontation will be with the first Upper Rank, Kokushibo. He will face Mist Hashira Muichiro, Wind Hashira Sanemi, Stone Hashira Gyomei, and the young hunter Genya.
This installment will reveal Kokushibo's past, including his childhood, adolescence, and tragic transformation into a demon.
The final arc, Sunrise Countdown arc, will presumably form the basis of a third movie that will conclude the entire story.
When Will 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Part 2' Be Released?
The exact premiere date has not yet been announced. Given Ufotable's production pace and the quality of their animation, the second movie is not expected until late 2026 at the earliest, though it will likely be pushed back to 2027.
There is no trailer yet, so for now, all we can do is stay tuned and reread the manga.
