Everything You Need to Know About 'Good Omens' Finale: Release Date, Plot & More
The finale of the hit series will be entirely different from what fans expected.
The story of Aziraphale and Crowley, who grew to love earthly life far more than their heavenly and hellish contracts dictate, is coming to an end.
The series began in 2019 as an adaptation of the cult novel Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It experienced a triumphant first season, a melodramatic second season, and a scandal that nearly derailed the finale.
Instead of a full third season, viewers will be treated to a single 90-minute episode. Here's when the finale will air, what it will be about, and how the accusations against Neil Gaiman affected production.
When Will 'Good Omens' Finale Be Released?
The final episode of Good Omens will premiere on May 13, 2026. A full third season was originally planned, but a series of production problems and a scandal surrounding the creator caused the format to change.
Instead of six to eight episodes, viewers will receive one 90-minute episode.
What Will 'Good Omens' Finale Be About?

At the end of Season 2, a rift formed between Aziraphale and Crowley. The angel and demon had a falling out and must now not only reconcile, but also save the world once again.
At the end of the season, Archangel Metatron mentioned Project Second Coming, which will apparently become the main threat. Therefore, Aziraphale and Crowley must join forces to prevent the world from ending again.
The Neil Gaiman Scandal & Its Impact on the Production of the Finale of 'Good Omens'

A scandal erupted in the summer of 2024 that nearly put an end to the continuation of the series. Two women accused Neil Gaiman of sexual harassment. The writer denies all allegations, but the consequences have been severe.
Netflix canceled Dead Boy Detectives, a series based on Gaiman's comics, and Disney suspended development of The Graveyard Book. Work on the third season of Good Omens was also halted in September 2024.
Gaiman stated that he was willing to step down as showrunner to ensure the project would be completed. Ultimately, the studio compromised, and production resumed without the writer's involvement.
Good Omens finale will be filmed using his script, which he wrote before the scandal. However, Gaiman did not participate in the filming and will not be involved in the promotional campaign.
