The extent to which the new adaptation will deviate from the original plot remains unknown. However, the creators have promised a compelling new take on the iconic novel, describing it as a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood.

Sense and Sensibility will likely keep the core plot lines of the novel but add a modern twist. Georgia Oakley noted that she considers Austen's novel bold because it highlights serious issues in the traditions of the time, such as the fact that men were the primary heirs.

The director promised that viewers will be able to see and feel the story, gaining an understanding of what life was like for the heroines in the early 19th century.

Following their father's death, the Dashwood sisters – Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret – and their mother find themselves destitute. The Norland estate goes to their father's only son, John, who breaks his promise to care for his sisters because of his greedy wife.

The family is forced to seek shelter with limited funds. When John's brother-in-law, Edward, arrives at the estate, the sensible Elinor develops a liking for him. However, his mother disapproves of the union.

The family moves to a cottage in Devonshire, where Marianne meets John Willoughby – they develop a passionate relationship, but he leaves her for a wealthy bride. Elinor learns that Edward is secretly engaged to Lucy Steele. However, his feelings for Lucy fade, and he proposes to Elinor.

Disillusioned, Marianne eventually falls in love with the devoted Colonel Brandon.

Austen's novel explores the conflict between reason and emotion, demonstrating that achieving a balance between the two is key to finding happiness.
