Finally, we'll see what it's like to follow Spider-Man, who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

In May, Amazon Prime Video will premiere Spider-Noir, a new Marvel series starring Nicolas Cage. This show promises to be one of the most unusual superhero adaptations in recent years.

Instead of the usual colors and skyscrapers, viewers will be immersed in a black-and-white world of the 1930s where superheroics collide with film noir. Expect rain, shadows, corrupt cops, and a masked detective unafraid to draw his gun.

Here's everything we know about this highly anticipated superhero project.

When Will 'Spider-Noir' Be Released?

Spider-Noir is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 27, 2026.

The creators decided to produce the series in two versions, color and proper black-and-white, so viewers can choose their preferred version.

Who Is 'Spider-Noir'?

Spider-Noir was born in 2009 when Marvel launched the Marvel Noir line of comics. This series combined superhero themes with the aesthetics of 1930s and 1940s noir detective stories. This alternate universe was designated Earth-90214.

In this world, there are no supervillains in yellow and green suits, but there are gangsters and corrupt politicians. In this universe, Peter Parker gained his superpowers from a mystical bite – he was bitten by a spider found in a golden idol, after which the spider deity contacted him.

Instead of wearing bright tights, Peter dons black clothes, aviator glasses, and a hat. He wields not only a web, but also a gun.

Spider-Noir's finest hour came in 2018 when he appeared in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, voiced by Nicolas Cage.

This version of the hero spoke with the accent of an old Hollywood actor and saw only shades of black and white. Fans loved this interpretation so much that Amazon announced a live-action series starring Cage in 2024.

However, in the series, Cage plays not Peter Parker but Ben Reilly, who is usually a clone of Spider-Man in the comics but is portrayed here as a battered private investigator who was once a vigilante hero.

Ben Reilly is a private investigator in 1930s New York City who is haunted by his past.

Tormented by pain and hallucinations, he puts on his mask again to start a bar fight and get drunk. While taking on a particularly complex investigation, he unwittingly finds himself caught up in a massive conspiracy involving influential city figures.

Several classic supervillains have already appeared in the promo materials, reimagined in their noir forms: Sandman, Electro, the Molten Man, and the gangster Silvermane.
