When Will 'The Boys' Season 5 Be Released?

The final season of The Boys will premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes released simultaneously.

Season 5 will consist of eight hour-long episodes. The remaining episodes will air weekly on Wednesdays, with the series finale scheduled for May 20.

Back in 2024, Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, warned fans that they would have a long wait, and he was right – almost two years passed between seasons.

What Happened in the Finale of 'The Boys' Season 4?

Season 4 ended with a complete victory for Homelander. His protégé, Steven Calhoun, became President and gave the superheroes extraordinary powers. This turned Homelander into the country's de facto leader.

Victoria Neuman, who could have posed a threat to his plans, was killed. Butcher lost his mind completely: he left the team and decided to destroy all supes single-handedly, including his former friends and his own son.

The Boys themselves were captured by Homelander's men. Only Starlight managed to escape – she regained her powers and disappeared into thin air. Frenchie and Kimiko finally confessed their love for each other but were immediately separated.

What Will 'The Boys' Season 5 Be About?

Season 5 will mark the end of the showdown between The Boys and Homelander. Eric Kripke promises a bloody conclusion, calling the final chapter a local version of the apocalypse – this means not everyone can expect to survive.

Apparently, we're in for an all-out war with no room for compromise. Butcher, obsessed with destroying all supes, will lose all sense of humanity.

Homelander, feeling like a god, will stop at nothing. Starlight, the only one who can stand against Homelander on equal terms, will be forced to choose between revenge and saving her loved ones.

Who Are the New & Old Faces in 'The Boys' Season 5?

All of the key actors will be back, including Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, and Antony Starr. The biggest casting intrigue, however, is the return of Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles.

He was frozen in a cryogenic chamber and handed over to the CIA in the Season 3 finale, but it seems he'll thaw out and become one of the main villains in the finale.

Furthermore, Ackles will be joined by his former Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Their roles have not yet been revealed, but at least one shared scene has been confirmed.

Finally, the finale will feature the younger generation of supes from the spin-off Gen V.
