Everything You Need To Know About The Handmaid’s Tale Spinoff, The Testaments

The Handmaid's Tale made such an impact that the show became an instant hit. Even though it has a really controversial and sometimes really horrible storyline, the show seemed to be so compelling that it was impossible to stop watching it no matter what was happening on the screen.

The genre of the show and its narrative implies the huge number of important characters, despite the fact that it was June Osborne who was at the center of the series.

However, there are many more who deserve a chance to become the main characters of the show. And that was the main reason for the announcement of a new spinoff called The Testaments.

The Testaments takes place 15 years after the end of The Handmaid's Tale and features three main characters: Aunt Lydia, Agnes Jemima, and Daisy. The main story of the spin-off focuses on how they would overthrow Gilead after June was captured by “the Eyes”.

The series is based on Margaret Atwood's second book in the franchise and will cover the endless issues of women oppression, abuse of power and many other intriguing and thought-provoking storylines.

However, we do not expect the spinoff to be exactly like the book, because as we know, The Handmaid's Tale itself was an adaptation that ended up being completely different.

So the story in The Testaments will be told, as we said, from the perspective of three women. Their stories begin in different places, but soon they are united by the desire to tear down the Gilead regime from within.

And as strange as it may sound to those who have witnessed Aunt Lydia being a horrible person during the 5 seasons of The Handmaid's Tale, she will most likely become a true rebel in the upcoming season 6. And that would set the story for her behavior in the spinoff.

As for the release details, there is no confirmed date yet. But fans are already speculating about it and think that it looks like we will have the spinoff sometime in 2025.
