Wednesday’s friend and (almost literally) right-hand, Thing might have been the toughest character to elaborate in Tim Burton’s show.

It took all of the darkest colours for Netflix to create The Addams Family’s hit spinoff Wednesday, and this applies even to the story’s minor details and minor characters.

Compared to previous instalments, Thing, which is a disembodied hand, boasts of a much more detailed look in Tim Burton’s horror-ish series, with the makeup team spending quite some time to make the character all the way more eerie with all sorts of stitches and marks.

However, it’s not only makeup and CGI that created Thing’s new look, as a real actor was on Wednesday’s set to literally offer his hand for filming.

Victor Dorobantu Plays Thing in Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’

Previously belonging to Christopher Hart, the role of Thing passed on to actor and magician Victor Dorobantu who would be wearing a blue suit while filming scenes with his character’s presence.

More than that, Dorobantu also worked alongside the rest of the team to create Thing’s own language, eventually coming up with some phrases and mimics right on the spot.

“It was so funny, because the Thing language was just made up on the day. Every day we'd show up and go, ‘Ahhh…’ [hand motions] ‘That looks right. I feel like I kind of know what he's saying’”, Wednesday’s actress Jenna Ortega once revealed in an interview with ScreenRant.
