Everything You Need to Know About 'Wednesday' Season 3: Plot, Release Date & More

The second season finale of Wednesday premiered on Netflix in September 2025. Even before the premiere, the creators announced the next chapter, which is already in production.

Jenna Ortega will reprise her lead role, and the new cast will include Eva Green and Winona Ryder.

When Will 'Wednesday' Season 3 Be Released?

Netflix has not yet announced an official release date. Filming was originally scheduled to begin in November 2025 but didn't start until February 2026. The second season began filming in May 2024, finished in December, and premiered on Netflix in August 2025.

Given that a little over a year passed between the start of production and the premiere, it's reasonable to expect the third season to be released in spring 2027.

What Will 'Wednesday' Season 3 Be About?

So far, almost nothing is known about the plot of the third season. Showrunner Alfred Gough has promised that the creators plan to develop the main characters further and expand the world of Nevermore simultaneously. This suggests that new characters and locations may appear in season three.

Recently, the creators shared a photo from the set in which Jenna Ortega stands in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It's likely that Wednesday will embark on a journey in the third season.

Previously, events primarily unfolded at the academy – the first season was filmed in Romania and the second in Ireland. The third season is expected to further explore the magical universe and possibly tie together the disparate plot threads from previous seasons.

How Did 'Wednesday' Season 2 End?

Jericho has been struck by a series of murders again – the victims' eyes have been pecked out. Wednesday discovered that the perpetrator is Isaac Night, a brilliant scientist and Tyler's uncle. After escaping from a mental hospital, Isaac, a zombie, is restoring his sanity by eating brains.

He wants to save his sister from a fatal disease, and to do so, he needs Pugsley's electrokinetic powers.

A new principal named Barry Dort arrived at the school and proved to be a skilled manipulator. With the help of Bianca, a siren, he tried to steal Wednesday's grandmother's money. Bianca forced Dort to confess, and he died during the ensuing fight.

Enid transformed into a werewolf for the first time outside of a full moon and realized that she was the alpha, the strongest and capable of becoming the leader of the pack. However, she lost control and fled Nevermore, fearing she might harm others. Wednesday set out to find Enid with Uncle Fester.

It turned out that Isaac's hand was the Thing – the zombie had sewn it onto himself after being resurrected. The Thing eventually rebelled against its former master and returned to the Addams family.

We also met Morticia's sister and Wednesday's aunt, Ophelia. Though long thought dead, she lives in Grandma Esther's basement. Ophelia appeared to Wednesday in a vision and wrote on the wall, "Wednesday must die." Either she sees her niece as a threat, or someone has implanted this idea in her mind.

Who Will Star in 'Wednesday' Season 3?

Jenna Ortega will reprise her role. New actors have also been announced for the cast: Eva Green will play Aunt Ophelia, and Winona Ryder will appear in one episode.

Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and others have joined the project as well.

Will the third season be the final one? Most likely not. The creators initially planned for four seasons. Given the show's success, however, it may be renewed for a fifth season. Netflix is also working on a spinoff, although the project is still in the early stages.
