The optimistic American football coach Ted Lasso moves to London to become the manager of the English soccer club Richmond. His appointment is met with skepticism because he has no soccer experience.

However, the club's owner, Rebecca, hired him as part of a cunning plan: she wants to destroy the team to get revenge on her ex-husband, Rupert. Unaware of this, Ted starts working, making up for his lack of knowledge with empathy and motivation.

He connects with each player, helps young talent flourish, and resolves conflicts – by midseason, he has built a culture of trust.

Rebecca sends their best player to another club, but Ted holds no grudge. Richmond is relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, but Ted stays, believing he can lead the club to success.

The second season intensifies the drama and highlights the characters' psychological struggles. Sports psychologist Dr. Fieldstone joins the club and helps the players, and eventually Ted himself, cope with their internal crises.

Ted grapples with his divorce and separation from his son. Meanwhile, Jamie Tartt returns to Richmond and struggles to earn the team's trust. Roy Kent retires from his career and joins the coaching staff.

After being promoted, Nate becomes jealous of Ted and, by the end of the season, accepts Rupert's offer to become the West Ham manager.

Meanwhile, Roy becomes head coach, and Beard remains in London.
