Some big changes are coming for the streaming’s global top chart.

It might have taken a while for Netflix to finally bring the hit horror flick to its platform, but fans’ prayers still have been heard. While the streaming is getting prepared for a new buzz that Jenna Ortega ’s new season of Wednesday will potentially bring this year, the actress’ 2023 horror flick Scream VI has just landed on Netflix after two years of wait.

Now that the movie has officially joined the platform’s collection, it probably won’t take much time for it to climb to the top of Netflix’s global chart — especially since the film is an absolute hit with the audience.

Scream VI Was the Viewers’ Most Liked Horror Movie in 2023

Though it didn’t get all the possible acclaim from the critics, who left Scream VI with a score of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie’s fans definitely appreciated it way more. Scream VI is currently holding 91% of positive reviews from the viewers, which is an audience rate higher than any other horror movie of 2023 ever got.

There’s a number of reasons for such success, starting from rising star Jenna Ortega who is now one of the franchise’s leads and ending with the long-awaited appearances of the entire movie series’ vets like Courteney Cox, Skeet Ulrich, and Hayden Panettiere.

Scream VI Was the Franchise’s Box Office Record Breaker

The film was released worldwide on March 6, 2023, and eventually grossed around $170 million against its initial budget of $35 million. After earning $100 million dollars in the domestic box office, Scream VI turned into the entire franchise’s new record holder as the movie was then the first one to garner that much since the release of Scream 2 back in 1997.

Eventually the film secured its status as the highest-grossing part of the Scream franchise at the United States and Canada box offices.
