Is this the ultimate Christmas dream?

For many people across the world, both Home Alone and Harry Potter are their Christmas go-to movies. Now, imagine they were connected in some way...

One Reddit fan theory goes exactly there and offers a surprisingly good explanation of why Kevin McCallister could be a wizard, and the classic movie franchise actually took place in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

Do you remember how Hagrid explained to Harry the nature of wizards? "Have you ever made anything happen that you couldn't explain when you were angry or afraid?"

For Harry, it was about accidentally locking Dudley in a cage with a snake in a public zoo; for Kevin, it was about the multiple times he miraculously escapes danger when dealing with either the criminals or the police.

"When he accidentally steals the toothbrush at the corner store and is running away from the police officer he slides perfectly across the ice, as if he was a jedi or something. This was likely the use of a spell like Wingardium Leviosa to help him hover," the theory reads.

Moreover, according to the theory, Kevin might have accidentally used the Confundus charm on Harry and Marv. Naturally, the boy had no idea what he was doing just like Harry Potter.

Since Kevin is an American, his magical school would be Ilvermony, not Hogwarts. In the first movies, he is 8 and 9 years old — too young to receive the letter yet. But what happened later?

"Further evidence of this is also that there was not a Home Alone 3 with the McCallister family. In Home Alone 1 Kevin was 8. In Home Alone 2 Kevin was 9. By a potential Home Alone 3 he was 10 and had been sent off to wizarding school," the theory suggests.

The theory has left other Redditors seriously rethinking the entire Home Alone franchise.

"He literally casts a weather manipulation spell that takes out the power lines in his neighborhood and causes his family to wake up late, leave in a panic, and ultimately forget him, just as he wished," Redditor goldenmellowmelons said.

Others even suggested that the pigeon lady might have been the American version of Hagrid who came to tell the magic words "You're a wizard, Kevin".

Too much of a stretch? Maybe, but it could also be the Christmas crossover of our dreams.
