Fans Can’t Stop Talking About Alex Garland’s New War Movie (It’s His Highest-Rated One)
The newest drama hits a second record after becoming one of Garland’s top films to-date.
Whether war movies are gaining their momentum once again or not, Alex Garland has definitely entered his prime.
Last year the now director, who started off as a writer for Cillian Murphy ’s hit horror 28 Days Later, released a drama Civil War, later followed by another potential hit of the genre Warfare which has just hit the screens worldwide.
The latter, featuring Hollywood’s big stars like Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis and Joseph Quinn, turned into Garland’s new pride and joy even before its theatrical release, but now the viewers have confirmed what critics have been raving about all along.
Warfare Is Alex Garland’s Highest-Rated Movie Ever
The movie was first labeled as the director’s most successful project when the critics’ reviews poured in, bringing Warfare’s critical score on Rotten Tomatoes up to 92%; it got even bigger now, boasting of 94%.
That’s not it though — the film also has more reasons to be proud of after spending its first weekend in theatres and securing another impressive score of 92% from the audiences.
“Eye opening experience that keeps you at the edge of your seat. This movie has given me another insight into the thoughts, fears, and first hand decisions that have to be made in such under pressure circumstances, while also staying in survival mode. Definitely felt like I was right next to each character, which leave you to think what would you do to be prepared for such life changing experience”, user Joshelin G wrote on the website.
“As a war movie buff I always look for the military logistics and its realism. This movie not only came across with great military logistics but it gave a different perspective of battle. This movie did not disappoint and I’ll defitnely watch it again. It will be logged into my military library”, ART ARAGON stated, also adding to other numerous notes about Warfare’s piercing realism.
What Do Critics and Fans Think About Warfare?
Many things have been said about Garland’s determination to stick to the truth no matter what, and some critics have spoken even highly of the movie’s potential impact on the real-life war veterans.
“If this film can act as a small step toward healing for veterans struggling to share their stories, then its significance is undeniable”, Reel Reviews’ Frank Wilkins acknowledged.
“Undeniably one of the most immersive and visceral war movies ever made. I was dazzled by the cinematic craftsmanship and marveled at the displays of brotherhood, but was also left utterly shattered by the reality of modern warfare”, Perri Nemiroff pointed out in his review on YouTube.
