Over its 19 seasons long run, Grey's Anatomy has had many characters come and go from the show.

Along with the ever-evolving cast, there have been plenty of romances between characters new and old. Fans have seen some absolute power couples like Meredith and Derek, and other favorite pairings including Alex and Jo as well as Callie and Arizona.

Unfortunately, not all relationships work out in the ever-popular medical drama, but there have been some relationships that fans prayed would end sooner rather than later.

Grey's Anatomy fans have brought up a relationship that they not only wanted to end but did not work in their eyes.

The Reddit thread started off asking fans for an unpopular opinion on a storyline or certain characters on Grey's Anatomy, but one particular viewpoint seemed to gain popularity amongst other Redditors very quickly with them all agreeing with the idea that April Kepner and Jackson Avery should not have been a couple and did not work together whatsoever.

Some fans consider them to be a favorite pairing, as these two characters have been a part of the show since their debut in season 6.

Their first romantic encounter was a one-night stand the night before April wrote her Boards, whilst all signs pointed to the pair being just friends, and Jackson had expressed still having feelings for Lexie. The rest of their relationship is truly dysfunctional and toxic, with a few good moments in between, according to Redditors.

Those online have pointed out that they never made sense as a couple because they clashed on everything. They had different beliefs, different approaches to life, and a general lack of chemistry.

Their relationship had extreme ups and downs, with the downs being the focus of fans on Reddit who pointed out that they did each other more harm than good in the end. There were breakups, and betrayals, April almost married someone else, and then Jackson swooped in at the last minute to profess his love. And the pair eloped, even though Jackson had been sleeping with Stephanie and had brought her to April's wedding.

After a marriage full of bitterness and fighting, the pair ended up divorcing, but then April found out she was pregnant, and they decided to co-parent as friends, eventually revealing to be back together in the end.

Redditors are certain they wouldn't even be friends if it wasn't for their daughter Harriet, as the two were barely able to stand each other at times but were brought back together by parenthood.

Redditors will never seem to be able to get over this senseless pairing, joking that even creator Shonda Rhimes has not been able to give a possible explanation for the duo. Surprisingly, after everything, a vast amount of Grey's fans still have Jackson and Avery on their list of favorite couples, even asking the show for a spinoff focused on the two as they run the Catherine Fox Foundation.
