While the first two seasons of 'Bridgerton' enjoyed nothing short of fans' universal love and critical acclaim, season 3 has already prompted some criticism – and it has not even premiered yet.

The season 3 aspirations of 'Bridgerton ' seem to divert from the original book order, and it does not sit well with fans.

The first two seasons were following the order of the novels carefully: season 1 told the story of Daphne Bridgerton and Simon, with season 2 focusing on Anthony Bridgerton's love affair with Kate. However, season 3 will not be delving into the love life of Benedict Bridgerton, as the third novel does; instead, the creators plan to dove into the drama between Penelope and Colin, which was the subject of the fourth novel.

This little tweak appeared to have triggered many fans, who were already bracing for Benedict's romance with Sophie.

Some people argued that diverting from book order may actually ruin the entire story.

Others wondered why even bother adapting something if things get changed in the middle of the way (ah, the eternal squabble between book lovers and adaptation creators…).

But there is a group of fans who try to be optimistic.

In the season 2 finale, Penelope happens to overhear Colin, her longtime love interest, saying he would never marry her. While there is no release date for season 3 yet, its production is expected to kick off this summer, so we'll get to know more about whether or not Colin told the truth some time later.
