If there's one thing American Horror Story does exceptionally well, it's setting the intensity to the max. Because even after all these years, I still can't get over these 5 disturbing scenes from the show.

American Horror Story is addictive. And despite Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's uncanny ability to make us deeply uncomfortable, we keep coming back for more. Looking back at all the seasons, these 5 moments still make me anxious whenever I think about them.

1. The Bloody Face Reveal in “Asylum” (Season 2, Episode 5)

After all the torture she went through at the asylum, it was such a relief to see Lana rescued by what seemed like her only ally. That is until Oliver Thredson revealed himself to be the actual Bloody Face.

The cruel irony of escaping one prison only to enter another more terrifying one is what made it scary. The betrayal is especially painful because, like Lana, we trusted Thredson.

2. Violet Finding Her Own Body in “Murder House” (Season 1, Episode 10)

Nothing could have prepared me for watching Violet discover that she is actually dead. Seeing her expression and shock when she found her decomposing body was emotionally devastating because of how invested we'd become in her story.

3. Coffin Scene in “Cult” (Season 7, Episode 3)

“Cult” was filled with unsettling moments, but seeing Rosie and her husband trapped in coffins in their own home was extremely disturbing. It's even worse considering Rosie had just told that she has overcome her biggest fear yet (being buried alive) with the help of her husband and therapist.

4. The Way Milo and Sophie Died in “Roanoke” (Season 6, Episode 9)

The “Roanoke” season may not have been the best, but it had that found-footage vibe that I absolutely love, and Milo and Sophie's death was straight-up nightmare fuel. They really thought they would get cool content at Roanoke. Instead they were captured and burned alive while filming everything.

5. Jimmy & Desiree Finding Their Friends Dead in the “Freak Show” Finale (Season 4, Episode 13)

The massacre that Dandy committed in the finale was brutal. However, when Jimmy saw all his friends lined up dead, it was one of the scariest and most heartbreaking moments of the entire show. Seeing the bodies of the people Jimmy and Desiree loved massacred and displayed like a twisted exhibition was truly brutal.
