Turns out, the Black Panther universe just got bigger.

While browsing updates from Marvel’s upcoming slate, one title caught me completely off guard — Eyes of Wakanda. A limited animated series set in the world of Black Panther, but with its own rhythm, its own style, and — crucially — its own story. I find myself oddly intrigued!

Premiering on Disney+ August 1, 2025, the four-episode series follows elite Wakandan warriors, the Hatut Zeraze. They travel across time and continents to recover lost vibranium artifacts. Each episode explores a different moment in Wakanda’s hidden history.

Produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris, the series steps slightly outside Marvel’s usual tone. It’s part of Phase Six, but stylistically, it feels more intimate and experimental.

Visually, it stands out. The animation mixes hand-painted textures with digital techniques, creating stop-motion effect. Think African fine art meets Marvel storytelling — an unexpected but promising blend.

All four episodes will drop at once — a rarity for Marvel, and a sign they’re confident in the format.
