Harry Potter fans greeted the news that 35-year-old Daniel Radcliffe and his long-term partner are expecting their first child with a collective: "He's 35!!??"

But 12 years on from the release of The Deathly Hallows Part 2, it really shouldn't be a surprise that some of the young stars we saw grow up in the wizarding world now have children of their own.

So, which other child actors from the franchise are now parents?

Scarlett Byrne

Scarlett played Slytherin prefect Pansy Parkinson, perhaps best known for calling on her schoolmates to hand over Harry Potter to Voldemort in the second wizarding war. She's now married to Hugh Hefner's son Cooper. The couple have three daughters – Betsy born in 2020 and twin girls welcomed into the world in 2022.

Josh Herdman

As Gregory Goyle, Herdman played one of Draco Malfoy's sidekicks. These days he's still involved with acting – including an appearance in Disney 's Andor, and he's also tried his hand at MMA. And he's father to two sons.

Afshan Azad

Afshan Azad played Ravenclaw Padma Patil who was the twin sister of Gryffindor's Parvati. She has no further acting credits since the Harry Potter movies but is now happily married to her husband Nabil Kazi. The couple had their first child in April 2021.

Jessie Cave

Jessie portrayed the one-time love interest of Ron Weasley, Lavender Brown. While still taking on some TV roles, she has also taken to the stage in plays and created her own critically acclaimed comedy show for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012. She's in a long-term relationship with comedian Alfie Brown and the pair have 4 children together.

Devon Murray

Murray played Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter series but has done very little acting since. He's currently engaged to his partner Shannon McCaffrey and the two have a son who was born in 2021.

Rupert Grint

A mainstay of the Harry Potter films, Grint played the unlikely hero Ron Weasley. He's had several roles since, including Inspector Crome in the UK TV series The ABC Murders. He has been in a relationship with fellow actor Georgia Groome (of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging fame) and the couple have a daughter called Wednesday who was born in 2020.

And if all that doesn't make you feel old, consider that John Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick) is now 83, and Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) is 88.
