Even if you don’t want it, it seems like it’s still coming.

When Tim Burton’s Wednesday arrived on Netflix in November 2022, the series turned into a major hit in an instant and created a huge fandom. Teens and adults together ended up rooting for one of the most unusual main characters on modern TV.

After the first season ended, it was only a matter of time before another season was announced. The first chapter introduced us to the show's characters and made it clear that they all have skeletons in their closets.

So when the show's power couple, Wednesday and Tyler, turned out to be a huge disappointment (or what do you call it when your first love interest turns out to be a monster?), fans decided they had had enough romance and demanded that there be no love story at all. But there's a catch...

Netflix just released a video teaser of what’s coming next on the platform, and the first teaser for Season 2 of Wednesday was also there — naturally, it has sparked a lot of conversation.

In the few seconds we get, we see Jenna Ortega 's Wednesday standing right in front of Hunter Doohan's Tyler as he hangs from the wall in chains. We learned in season 1 that he was a Hyde, and now we see that he is being held at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital.

Fans Are Sure Wednesday Season 2 Will Go Full Silence of the Lambs Mode

The image reminded the diehard fans of another scene that took place in an iconic movie called The Silence of the Lambs. The fans felt the same tension between Tyler and Wednesday as there was between Hannibal Lecter and Clarice in the 1991 movie.

And just to add fuel to the fire, there have been leaks suggesting that Wednesday will turn to Tyler for help with another case in Season 2. And while there's no confirmation that any of this is true, the one scene Netflix decided to show us still gives us plenty to believe that it is possible.

And what’s more, maybe romance is still on the table. Probably not right away, though — after all, Jenna Ortega, who serves as executive producer for season 2, has been inclined to step away from the romantic storylines in Wednesday.

“I wouldn’t mind more interactions between Wednesday and Tyler because he’s the only love interest they gave her that I found interesting and I feel like if she ever were to find someone attractive, it would be the villainous serial killer monster. If the creators styled their interactions in a similar manner to Hannibal and Clarice, I think that would be a great way to incorporate more horror themes into the show,” Redditor TenebrisAngelus6 said.

Wednesday season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
