This protein-rich French pie might also become handy for those sticking to healthy lifestyle.

French cuisine has given the world some of the most popular dishes out there, and the quiche has been taking this world by storm in recent years. Apart from looking like a dream, this dish is often made of the “healthiest” ingredients like chicken, mushrooms, vegetables or even salmon, thus turning into a tempting snack for people taking care of their figure.

What makes the quiche even better is that it can be easily prepared in any kitchen, taking just about an hour of time, so make sure you keep this secret for family or friend gatherings in the future.

Ingredients: 125 g of butter, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of water, 250 g of flour, 330 g of chicken fillet, 250 g of mushrooms, 180 g of onion, 7 cherry tomatoes, a pinch of black pepper, 150 g of hard cheese, 150 ml of 30% cream (substitute for 10% if you want a healthier version), a pinch of salt.

Rinse the chicken fillet under running water. Place in a saucepan, cover with water, and place on the stove. Once it comes to a boil, add salt, reduce the heat, and cook for 25 minutes. Remove the cooked meat from the broth and let it cool.

Sift the flour in a deep bowl. Grate the chilled butter on a large grater and add to the flour. You can also use melted butter in this recipe, but you will need to mash it with a fork. Add the egg, salt, and water. Mix the dough. Put the finished dough in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Peel the onion. Cut into small cubes. Heat a frying pan. Pour in the vegetable oil and heat it up. Add the onion. Stir-fry for a few minutes until golden brown.

Wipe the mushrooms with a damp kitchen towel (do not wash them: the excess moisture will make them lose their shape during cooking). Cut the mushrooms into thin slices and add to the onions. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

Cut the chicken fillet into small cubes. Place in a pan with the other ingredients. Stir.

Pour the cream into a deep bowl. Grate the cheese on a large grater and add to the bowl with the cream.

Roll out the chilled dough into a flat layer. Place it in a baking pan. Form the edges of the dough. Trim the edges if necessary and press the trimmings into the pan. Spread the filling evenly over the entire surface.

Rinse the cherry tomatoes under running water and dry them. Cut them in half. Arrange them on the filling with the cut side down. Pour the prepared filling over the top.

Place the pie in a preheated oven and bake it for 40 minutes at 180 °C.
