A perfect option in case you’ve got some leftovers you don’t want to throw away.

Even though many are used to thinking the French cuisine is way too complicated to be tried at home, it’s actually far from being true (at least for some famous meals).

For instance, the French iconic Quiche Lorraine does look pretty exquisite, but you can actually make it yourself within just 15 minutes — check whether you have some ham leftovers and prepare the best French pie you’ll ever try.

Here’s what you need: 1 package of puff pastry, 150–200 g of sausage, ham, or any other meat product, 4 eggs, 150 ml of 20% cream, 120–150 g of hard cheese, 1 small onion, 20 g of butter, salt, black pepper and nutmeg to taste.

I thaw the dough in advance, roll it out, and place it in the pan, forming the sides. I prick the bottom with a fork. I pre-bake the dough for 8–10 minutes without the filling.

Cut the meat into small pieces and lightly brown them.

In the same pan, fry the finely chopped onion in butter until soft and lightly golden. Grate the cheese using a coarse grater.

Mix the eggs with the cream, then add salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Spread the meat and onions over the dough, sprinkle with cheese, and pour the egg mixture over the top.

Bake at 180°C for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
