A classic tale twisted into horror.

Remember Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin? The 2019 live-action remake was all about colourful magic carpets, catchy songs, and Will Smith’s larger-than-life Genie bringing plenty of laughs. It was a family-friendly adventure filled with charm and spectacle — exactly what you’d expect from a Disney classic brought to life.

But hold onto your lamps, because the next Aladdin is about to turn everything upside down. According to Ihorror a brand-new adaptation is in the works, and it’s heading straight into horror territory. No more lighthearted fun here — instead, prepare for a dark and twisted take on the familiar story.

The film is written and directed by Brett Bentman (90 Feet From Home), who’s known for exploring intense, eerie themes. His vision reinvents Aladdin as a sinister exploration of desire and obsession, peeling back the layers of the classic tale to reveal something much darker lurking beneath the surface.

Horror actress Devanny Pinn — known for gripping performances in The Dawn and Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery — has been cast as Jasmine. Expect her portrayal to be far from the sweet and gentle princess we’ve seen before; this Jasmine is set to bring a chilling edge to the story.

Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Oklahoma, with ITN Distribution planning to release the movie in early 2026. Unlike the bright and bustling markets and magical flying carpets of the past, this Aladdin promises haunted streets, eerie shadows, and a cursed lamp that might grant nightmares instead of wishes.

So, are you curious to see this new dark twist on a beloved tale? Or will you stick with the colourful magic and happy endings of Guy Ritchie’s version? Either way, this Aladdin is shaping up to be a very different journey — one that could haunt your dreams long after the credits roll.
