The series features an impressive cast that you still won’t see on the screen.

The 2-year wait for Severance ’s fans is over, but not entirely — the show drops only one episode per week, leaving the viewers on the hook every single time. While there are still several days of agonising suspense in between the second season’s episodes, Apple TV has another good option for those who don’t know what to turn to before coming back to the favorite show on a Friday.

The mystery thriller series premiered on the platform back in 2021 and, despite all the praise from critics, remained mostly unnoticed.

Calls Is a Fascinating Mystery Thriller With Star-Studded Cast

Based on a French television series of the same name, Calls is a Fede Álvarez-directed animated mini-series that follows a mysterious story, the puzzle of which is gathered through numerous voice calls. In fact, there’s nothing more on the screen rather than some short indications of who is currently talking to who, but the show actually features many recognisable voices.

Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Aubrey Plaza, Ben Schwartz, Joey King, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Pedro Pascal, Rosario Dawson and many others, Calls is a compilation of phone conversations about a group of strangers whose life turns into a total mess, eventually leading to an apocalyptic event.

Released in 2021, Calls garnered favorable reviews from both critics and viewers and secured impressive scores of 95% and 87% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes. The show even made it to winning a Primetime Emmy Award, yet it still wasn’t a reason for Apple TV’s viewers to take a look at it.

However, Calls might be indeed a solid option for Severance’s fans since both shows tend to gradually collect pieces of one big mystery throughout the whole season’s storyline and keep the viewer on hook till the very end of it all.
