Forget 'The Simpsons' — 'Big City Greens' Is the New Family Favourite

This animation is inspired by the story of Homer and his family.
If you love The Simpsons but feel like the endless 36 seasons might be a bit much, I’ve got a fresh recommendation for you — Big City Greens: The Movie — Spacecation. This Disney+ movie builds on the hilarious series and brings that same clever humour with a fun, fresh twist.
Created by Chris and Shane Houghton, who actually worked on The Simpsons comics, Big City Greens follows the Green family — a single dad, Bill, raising his kids Cricket and Tilly, plus his mum Alice — as they navigate life in the big city.
I love how it reflects real-life family dynamics, way more relatable than the classic nuclear family in The Simpsons.
Cricket’s mischievous spirit totally reminds me of Bart, while Tilly’s curious and imaginative nature is very Lisa-esque. What really stands out is how the show blends laugh-out-loud moments with genuine warmth and modern family vibes.
With just four seasons and the new Spacecation movie, it’s the perfect bite-sized binge.
If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely give Big City Greens a go — it might just become your new favourite.
