Frank Underwood’s Weakness: How to Make the Legendary Sticky BBQ Ribs from ‘House of Cards’
The fall-off-the-bone tenderness every fan of the iconic show needs to try.
Even though movies and TV series centre on people and their life, sometimes it’s the food they eat that becomes another main character in the whole plot. Fans of the hit political show House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey will instantly remember the leading character’s beloved BBQ ribs which are actually pretty easy to make at home.
In fact, preparing those in your own kitchen will prevent you from all sorts of trouble.
Here’s what you need (for two portions): 800 g of pork ribs, 1 teaspoon each of the following freshly ground spices: fennel, mustard seeds, black pepper, paprika, and dried garlic; Dijon mustard, sea salt, and barbecue sauce.
Coat the ribs with a thin layer of mustard, let them marinate for an hour. Then sprinkle the ribs with the spice mixture, cut them in half, wrap them in two layers of foil, and bake in the oven at 180 °C for an hour and a half.
Remove the ribs from the oven, brush with barbecue sauce, and put them back in the oven for a few minutes, now without the foil. Serve with coleslaw.
