Looks can be truly deceiving.

Summary:

  • Friends was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 90s, airing from 1994 to 2004.
  • The show focused on the lives of 6 young adults making their way in New York.
  • Back in 1995, Jennifer Aniston admitted to being intimidated by one of her castmates, Matt LeBlanc in the beginning.

If there is one thing that no one can deny about Friends, it’s the pure chemistry between the castmates. While there are some debates about the casting choices in terms of inclusivity, or the humor of the show, no one can argue that the actors who ended up in the show did their jobs at the top-tier level.

What’s even better is that Friends did end up setting a strong friendship between the group of leading actors.

Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc may not make as many joint appearances anymore, but every time the topic of discussion comes to the bond they have, it appears to still be as strong as it was in the very beginning.

Or, even better than before, considering that not every single one of them immediately saw each other as trustworthy.

Why Was Jennifer Aniston Scared Of Matt LeBlanc

For those of you who don't know, Joey wasn't always intended to be as likable as he was in Matt LeBlanc's portrayal. In fact, he was originally written to be much more of an arrogant jerk before undergoing a much-needed transformation. However, LeBlanc's appearance fit the first description perfectly.

And that was exactly what made his co-star, Jennifer Aniston, a little intimidated by him at first. It wasn't a big deal, but it definitely took some time for the actress to adjust. Here's what she told People in 1995, a year after the show premiered:

“I was scared of that type of guy. He thinks it’s very funny now. And actually, he can sit down and comfort me just like Courteney or Lisa could.”

Despite his macho looks, Matt LeBlanc ended up being a person who was always willing to be there for his castmates, pun fully intended.

And even though the actor is adamant that he doesn't want to do the reboot, that doesn't mean he has any bad memories. On the contrary, such a decision only shows a certain respect for the great legacy the cast and crew have left behind.

If you want to revisit the iconic sitcom of the '90s, you can stream Friends on Max.
